About
The question of exactly when ANTIC, Inc. was founded has been a subject of some debate.
Although ANTIC was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt entity in 1984; most will cite 1983 as the year the group staged its first production of “Godspell” as its true beginning.
Producing “Godspell” was the brainchild of a group of enthusiastic Cuyahoga Falls High School drama students who were eager to extend their own theatre experience by staging their own production.
With the help of Marcy Grosswiller, the drama teacher and sponsor of the International Thespian Society Troupe, they were not only successful with “Godspell” but also launched their dream of their very own theatre company.
Once Godspell had been staged these drama students had been bitten badly by the theatrical bug and wanted to work on other productions.
The people of ANTIC had the love for theatre but they had no theatre to play in. Never one to let an obstacle get in the way of success, Marcy encouraged the troupe to perform wherever they could find playing space. For several seasons ANTIC successfully staged many outdoor productions and murder mysteries.
With limited playing opportunities, ANTIC went into hiatus and after a few years re-emerged in 1992. ANTIC performed forseveral fundraising events before finding its current home in 1993 at the Newell Theatre, located in the Quirk Cultural Center in Cuyahoga Falls.
ANTIC is proud be celebrating 30 Seasons at the Quirk Cultural Center as well a very successful partnership with the Cuyahoga Falls Park and Recreation Department. It is thanks to our partners that we are able to offer quality theatre to our community.
ANTIC is run by a volunteer board of trustees and every show is a product of the many participants who donate their time for the love of theatre.
